Annabel Wilkes
Annabel’s approach to teaching allows students to really explore and experiment with new mediums, allowing confidence and creativity to flow. Annabel enjoys sharing her fascination of plants and knowledge of mixing processes, which enables others to enjoy and learn new exciting skills.
Annabel runs cyanotype and printmaking workshops for adults and young people from her studio in Newmill, near Penzance. She also has run community art workshops in various venues in and around St Ives including at Tate St Ives and St Ives Community Orchard. Annabel has fifteen years of experience working in schools and currently offers print workshops to school groups at the Porthmeor Print Workshop.
Her practice involves the investigation of natural forms, using the medium of collagraph, monoprint and cyanotype. She chooses Cornish flora which is found or decayed to produce beautiful botanical prints. She concentrates on the intricacy of chosen forms and structures, overlaying with a variety of colours to produce depth and vibrancy. Annabel attempts to instil a sense of calm in her work through the use of muted, natural tones.
