St Ives School of Painting on the hunt for Trustees

Porthmeor Studios in St Ives

St Ives School of Painting in the Porthmeor Studios packs an enormous amount of all year round activity into its two restored studios overlooking the Atlantic Ocean. More than 2000 students a year from across the globe enjoy short courses, workshops, weekly life drop in classes, taught by local artists. They also enjoy the recently launched yearlong Porthmeor Programme. An ambitious youth programme is also in development that will champion the skills of painting and drawing for young artists.

The Board are looking for candidates to join the board of trustees and support this exciting work. The Board meet at least four times a year and are active between meetings supporting the small staff  team according to their individual expertise. Director Alison Sharkey says, “We welcome people with a wide range of skills; expertise in philanthropy and fundraising, marketing, good solid business and financial sense, as well as experience in youth and arts education. Guidance and support from experts in these areas will help us continue to be the best at what we do, building on the renown with which the school is now regarded.”

We are running an open evening for anyone interested in finding out more about the role on Tuesday 28 July 2015 between 6pm and 7pm at the Porthmeor Studios. It is a chance to meet some of the other trustees and staff and be shown around the School. Please let us know if you would like to attend. To register your interest in joining the board send a CV and covering letter to alison@schoolofpainting.co.uk. Closing date 31 July 2015.

If you think you would like to join us for the open evening please contact the Director Alison Sharkey on 01736 797180 or email alison@schoolofpainting.co.uk.
